Hi All,
It has been a busy few months for RD Petroleum. We have been at a number of events lately including the annual South Island Agricultural Field Days in Lincoln last month. Over the three days we talked with a lot of current customers as well as a number of new ones and the feedback was really positive which is always pleasing.

We are proud to say that we have donated $500.00 to a local school in each of the communities where we have a RD Petroleum Fuel Site. As you would imagine the donation was very well received and each school has put the money to good use. We received a number of very grateful messages back and were delighted to hear about where the money was used. You can see in the photo below Wyndham Primary has used their donation to purchase new High-Vis vests for the kids.

Hi All,

It is about time we gave an update on what’s been happening in the past few months with RD Petroleum. It has been a busy time, especially with the opening of the new Kurow fuel site at Appleby Motors! So if you are driving through Kurow and need some fuel then look for the signs directing you to Appleby Motors, the fuel is pumping 24/7.

We are proud to say we now have a total of 14 RDP Petroleum Fuel Sites situated around the South Island, with the possibility of a few more currently in the pipe line.
ver the summer we will be getting involved with some local events and fund raisers so if you see the team please feel free to come and say hello, we are always up for a yarn, especially Peter our Southland Territory Manager.

Melbourne Cup Competition Winners

I am very pleased to announce the winner of the Melbourne Cup competition!

Simla Farms Ltd from the Ruapuna area were the lucky winners.

Alistair & Norma King will be flying over to Melbourne this Monday to enjoy the Melbourne Cup Festivities and hopefully watch a Kiwi horse win the big race live.

Keep an eye out as there will be more competition’s coming out in the near future.

After a successful Bledisloe Cup promotion, RD Petroleum has decided to launch another competition. This time it is two tickets to the Melbourne Cup!

The prize includes:

- Two return flights to Melbourne
- Two tickets to the Melbourne Cup (covered hill stand)
- Three nights accommodation in Melbourne (including breakfast)
- Airport Transfers

So to be in the draw for this prize, all you have to do is refer a new bulk fuel client to RD Petroleum and if they sign up both you and your referral will have separate entries into the draw. The more referrals that sign up the more entries you will have in the draw. Bulk fuel customers who sign up with RD Petroleum during the competition dates will also be entered into the draw.

The competition will run from 1st September to the 25th October.

ERMA announces new rules for farm diesel storage

ERMA New Zealand has altered the rules covering the storage of diesel fuel to keep costs down for farmers and horticulturalists.

The changes mean that existing above ground diesel tanks of up to 2500 litres capacity will not have to have a compound (bund) to guard against the risk of leakage, providing they are located so that any spillage will not endanger any building or flow into any natural water. Other rules regarding the use of existing and new diesel tanks can be found on the ERMA New Zealand website.

The exemption only applies to diesel tanks that were in use or under construction prior to April 2004 and continue to meet the requirements of the previous Dangerous Goods legislation.

The rule change will allow existing 500 gallon (2273 litre) diesel tanks to continue in use without requiring the construction of a compound.

The rules under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms legislation previously specified 2000 litres as the maximum capacity for diesel tanks without a compound. However, it is estimated the cost to the farming and horticultural industries to add compounds would be around $10 million. ERMA New Zealand was not aware of this significant compliance cost when it made its original decision, and has raised the limit to 2500 litres to accommodate the common existing 500 gallon tank.

The regulations regarding the storage of petrol on farms have not changed. The new rules apply to existing diesel tanks as long as they are regularly maintained and are in good order. All new tanks over 2000 litres will have to have a compound.
