Bruce Roy

Bruce Roy Glen Islay Station is a family-owned sheep, beef, dairy grazing and arable farming enterprise. The property covers over 6000 ha and manages around 30000 livestock as well as growing around 600 ha of cereal crops. The farm was initially bought by Ian Roy in 1979 and today has three generations of his family overseeing the operations of the business.

The main farming property of Glen Islay station in Mandeville was the first to be purchased by Ian in 1979. Today it is run by Ian’s son Bruce and his wife, Helen. Bruce studied engineering in Canterbury before returning to Mandeville to take over the operations of the farm. Since 1979 when the Roys first took over Glen Islay Station their fuel has been delivered through BP and its rural distribution network. Over the past 6 years it has been RD Petroleum that has ensured that Bruce in Mandeville, and all of the other properties owned and run by the Roys have had enough fuel to run their operations

With over 3800 ha of land at the Mandeville property Bruce and Helen have plenty to keep them occupied and they don’t have the time to worry about the reliability of their fuel supplier. That’s where we come in and here at RD we endeavour to anticipate, and then cater for our customers’ needs before any problems can arise.

“They [RD] are very efficient, we never have to go out of our way to find out when our next delivery will arrive. Peter Browne, the truck driver is very proactive and has a good knowledge of the area. He ensures that everyone has their fuel when they need it.”

The RD fuelcard also gives Bruce peace of mind.

“We know that in the case of an emergency we can just use the fuelcard to pop down to the nearest retail site and fill up a Ute or a trailer tank to see us through.”

Glen Islay Station has been run by three generations of the Roy family for over 30 years and for all of that time they have been customers of BP distributors. At RD we really value our long-standing clients and we are always looking to provide them with the best possible service and to nurture such relationships for many more generations to come.
